"I don't know a great deal." she admitted, "Mainly what I've heard in the legends of the old ways. It almost seems like a fairy tale thing. Except then I don't know how to explain my abilities. I think it's something that can be developed and trained over time."

"I'd have to agree with that, especially after talking with Asil," Skif responds. He and I spoke a bit about what Luke Skywalker has accomplished, and what he's doing with the new Jedi trainees he's uncovering." Skif takes a sip of his caf. "It fills me with a strange hope, something I can't quite explain. I mean, I've suddenly started getting these...feelings. Premonitions, maybe. Warnings of danger. I think that's something the Jedi are able to do at will, with training. If this is really the Force, I'm very curious to know what else I'm capable of."

She contemplated his words for a moment as she stared out into the vastness of space. "As you saw back in the cantina I've been able to develop my abilities a bit just by practicing the things I discovered I could do. It would be exciting to see what I could learn if I had someone to teach me!" she finished in a rush as she let the possibilities flow through her.

"I feel exactly the same way!" Skif said, excitedly. "I haven't really noticed this ability long enough to have really been able to practice it, but it seems to work best when I just open myself up to it, rather than trying to force it. Have you had the same experience?" he asked.

"That's it exactly." she exclaimed in reply. "When I'm relaxed and open I seem to be able to tap into something. But if I try to will it nothing happens."

"Well, from the little bit I could get out of Asil, I think a Jedi is certainly able to use the Force at will like that; it just sounds like it's easier for them if they're not in a turmoil or something..."
His voice trailed off and he looked at the floor, finished his cafe, then looked up at Trista. "Do you think you could try to show me what you do? You know, describe what you're feeling, how you're trying to achieve the result? I'd be happy to do the same for you-try to explain this extra sense of mine. Who knows? Maybe we can teach each other something..."

A thrill runs through Skif as he sets his cup down. He stands, moves his chair so he's facing Trista head-on, then sits again, drawing his legs up underneath himself, tailor-fashion. "Great!" he says, his enthusiasm plainly radiating off of him-even to non-Jedi. "I suppose I should go first, since this was my idea," he adds, smiling shyly.
Looking deep into her eyes, he says, "Ok now, the first thing is to clear your mind. Let any extraneous thoughts flow away from you...the bustle at the cantina...the dashingly handsome guy sitting across from you," he adds with a soft chuckle. "Just let yourself kinda...drift. When you reach that place, try to look...beyond yourself. It often helps to close your eyes-at least, it does for me. That helps block any extra stimuli your eyes might give you, which can interfere. Open your feelings to what's going on around you. That place where you found the power to lift those credits? Tap that. Channel that energy outward. Imagine it radiating outward from you, perhaps in a spiral search pattern, or maybe in tendrils that snake outward from you, feeding you information about your surroundings. With this input, you can sense when you're in danger..." His voice gets softer and softer as he speaks, as he first watches Trista's reactions to what he's telling her, then closes his own eyes and reaches for that resevoir of energy to do what he's telling her to do, hoping that perhaps she can pick up his methods and follow them. He reaches out gingerly and takes her hands into his own, holding them gently and trying not to break her concentration. "See if you can sense what I'm doing, and perhaps follow along...you know, detect how it feels to do this," he murmurs, his voice trailing off...

Trista followed his directions quietly. She calmed herself and reached deep inside searching for the source of the abilities she knew she possessed. Gradually she felt a warming sensation inside her and a feeling of peace. She felt no sense of danger what-so-ever. This was a peaceful place after all; she wasn't expecting to sense danger.
She reached out to see if she could touch Skiff mentally.
At almost the same moment Skiff sensed a tingle he had never noticed before.

Skif's eyebrows raised suddenly at a tingly sensation he got as he was walking Trista through the paces of sensing out Danger. Not sure what it was, but failing to pick up anything dangerous about it, Skif reached out to embrace it, to see if he could refine the sensation and determine exactly what it was.
